Tim Hinchcliffe, UK

Tim is an experienced higher education teacher and leader, responsible for the design and delivery of both teaching excellence programmes and bespoke consultancy, in both domestic and international markets.

Before joining Advance HE, Tim spent almost a decade in leadership roles at Keele University during a period of sustained national top 5 placings for overall satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS). Versatile roles included Head of Curriculum Development, Head of Student Learning, and Senior Fellow of Sustainability.

In these roles Tim was responsible for the creation of high-quality student facing learning services; the UK’s first cross-disciplinary external accreditation arrangements, developed in partnership with the Institute of Leadership and Management; and the development of the Distinctive Keele Curriculum, an institutional-wide multi-project initiative commended by the OfS in their summary of findings for Keele’s Gold Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF) submission.

Tim has a Masters of Research in Humanities and Social Sciences, a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, a BA in History and Politics, and an ILM Certificate in Leadership. Tim is currently working to address aspects of the hidden curriculum; namely the unwritten and assumed rules and practices of HE.
