He graduated from the University of Adelaide in Australia with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). He began working at Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2001 as a trainee lecturer. In 2007, he earned his Master of Surgery (Neurosurgery) and went on to work as a neurosurgeon and clinical lecturer. He took an active part in research, teaching, and clinical work. His areas of interest are robotic neurosurgery, spinal injuries, and traumatic brain injury. In 2010, he enrolled at International Islamic University Malaysia. He worked as a clinical lecturer at the Department of Surgery, Kuliyyah of Medicine. He has authored numerous books, book sections, and articles. Furthermore, he has supervised postgraduate students in both PhD and Master degrees. In 2020, he received a promotion to full professor. From 2017 to 2018, he served as Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre@IIUM Deputy Director (Clinical). He was then appointed as Hospital Director in 2019 and remains there now. Among the achievements during his tenure as Hospital Director are:
- 1) The establishment of Halimatussaadiah Mothers Milk Centre (HMMC), the first Shariah compliant milk bank in Malaysia.
- 2) Recognition as WHO/UNICEF Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative Global Criteria on 21 January 2022 by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
- 3) Finalist in the Financial Sustainability Project and achieved No.1 in a presentation at the Ministry of Higher Education.
- 4) Selected as one of the five (5) institutions by the Ministry of Higher Education for ‘Outcome Based Assessment in 2021 and ranked No. 1 for the highest marks obtained.
- 5) Finalist for the International Green Gown Award 2023- a special Flagship project on Special Needs Children in rural area.
