Melaine D’Cruze

Melaine D’Cruze, an experienced professional in management, has officially joined the Office of Research and Graduate Studies (ORGS) as the new Director. With an MA in Educational Planning, Economics, and International Development from the Institute of Education, University College London, and an MBA from Preston Institute of Management, Science, and Technology, Melaine brings a diverse skill set to her new role. As the Director of the Research Office, Melaine plays a crucial role in expanding grant activity across all AKU campuses and geographies. Reporting to the Vice Provost, Research, she oversees grant application reviews, ensures compliance with ongoing grants, and manages global systems and processes.

She has over two decades of experience in multiple industries, working in different roles at two schools, a multinational pharmaceutical, an international bank and an educational institution, namely the Institute of Educational Development at AKU. Her latest and most prominent association was with IED, where she was a key part of the Open Learning and eLearning teams and led the revival of the Professional Development Centre in Karachi. In her most recent role, which focused on strategic planning and operational matters, Melaine’s role encompassed advising the Dean, faculty, and staff on educational, research, budgetary, and human resource matters. Her expertise spans areas such as strategic and operational management, and team development.

Melaine is eager to contribute to AKU’s research efforts, work collaboratively with a dedicated team, and make a meaningful impact. Her extensive experience and dedication to excellence makes her a valuable asset to the ORGS. She can be reached out at melaine.dcruze@aku.edu
