Dr. M. Nauman Farooqi is the President and Vice Chancellor at St. Thomas University in Canada. He previously served as the Dean of Business and Social Sciences, inaugural Convenor/Director of the Frank McKenna School of Philosophy, Politics and Ecnomics and as the Academic Integrity Officer at Mount Allison University, Canada.
He was awared the Paul Pare Award for excellence in teaching and research at Mount Allison University. He was also awarded the Students Administrative Council Teaching Award for the Faculty of Social Sciences. As a researcher, he has a successful record of publications in academic journals, peer-reviewed conference proceedings and academic conference presentations. Dr. Farooqi’s expertise is in the areas of informal money transfer systems and entrepreneurship. Dr. Farooqi has a Ph.D. degree in Business Administration (major finance, minor marketing) and an MBA, both from the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business, St. Louis University, USA. He also has an MBA from the Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan.
In the corporate and public-sector environments, he has been a successful President & CEO of a money management and investment advisory firm managing a multi-million Dollar mutual fund portfolio. As a World Bank funded consultant and advisor he was involved with the privatization of state-owned financial institutions. Dr. Farooqi also served as the President & CEO of a start-up company based on university research. He has also acted as a consultant for various national and international organizations.
