Professor Khalid Al-Begain is the first President of Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST), a highly ambitious private university in Kuwait offering programs in engineering and management. In less than four years, KCST became one of the most successful private universities in Kuwait with around 800 students.
He led a number of international organisations. He is the President of the European Council for Modelling and Simulation (ECMS) and Past President of the Federation of European Simulation Societies. He was the founder and chairman of the first National Welsh Industrial Cyber Security Summit, in Newport, UK in 2014 organised jointly with Airbus, General Dynamics and the UK Cybersecurity Centre.
He was consultant for Telekom Malaysia building the planning tool for the first 3G network in Malaysia.
He won numerous awards including the John von Newman Computer Award (1986) and the Inspire Wales Award for Science and Technology (2013). In 2006, he received Royal Recognition from Her Majesty the Queen for his contributions to the British scientific community. In 2018, he received the “Manager of the Year in HE” Award.
He registered two granted patents, authored/edited 20 18 books, and more than 200 papers in refereed journals and conferences.
