Prof. Mohammed Hussein Ahmed

Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hussein Ahmed is the Director General and Head of the Apparatus of Supervision and Quality Assurance at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region, a position he has held since May 2018. He is also the Founder and CEO of the Vision Agency for International Development (VisionAID).

He began his career as an English teacher at the Ministry of Education (2000–2004) and later served as Head of the English Department at the Universities of Sulaimani and Garmian (2004–2015). From 2015 to 2018, he worked as International Relations Officer at the Office of the Minister of Higher Education. He also served as a member of the Advisory Board to H.E. the Minister of Martyrs and Anfal Affairs for genocide issues (2014–2019) and was also a member of the Advisory Board for the Times Higher Education Arab University Rankings.

Dr. Ahmed holds a BA from Salahaddin University–Erbil, an MA from Diyala University, and a PhD in English Linguistics and Pragmatics from the University of Sulaimani. He has been an exchange faculty member in the USA and an academic visitor in the UK. He has participated in over 100 international conferences, authored more than twenty research papers, and published three academic books.
