The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Dutse,Jigawa state, Nigeria, Professor Fatima Batul Mukhtar, is a professor of Botany with plant physiology as her area of specialization. Additional areas of interest are Biostatistics, horticulture, agricultural biotechnology and food security. She graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with a degree in Botany in 1984. She did her master’s degree and Ph.D at Bayero University, Kano in 1994 and 2005 respectively. Her Ph.D thesis was one of the three selected by the University and entered into a National competition where it scored 5th position. She also has a certificate in Agricultural Biotechnology following a short course in Michigan State University, USA in 2012.
She is a member of New York Academy of Science, USA, Third World Organization for Women in Science, Nigerian Society for Experimental Biology, Botanical Society of Nigeria, Science Association of Nigeria, Botanical Society of America (BSA), Association of Plant Biologists, USA.
