Dr. Susan Mumm was appointed Chancellor of AUS in August 2021, bringing a breadth of academic and leadership experience from her roles at leading institutions in Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. As AUS Chancellor, Dr. Mumm will lead the implementation of the university’s vision and mission and build AUS’ ties with communities within the GCC and beyond.
Dr. Mumm began her academic career at York University in Canada. She has also served as a faculty member and Head of Department at the Open University in the United Kingdom. Most recently, Dr. Mumm served as Principal of Brescia University College, part of the University of Western Ontario system. Prior to that, she was Dean of Arts and Science at Queen’s University of Kingston, and held senior leadership roles at Massey University in New Zealand, and Mount Saint Vincent University in Canada.
Dr. Mumm holds a DPhil in History from the University of Sussex and a Master of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Arts in English (Honors) and History (High Honors) from the University of Saskatchewan. She was a Commonwealth Scholar and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
