Dr. Rima Mattar, Provost of the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK), is an Associate Professor of Modern Languages and Translation in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. She joined USEK in 2006 as Director of the International Affairs Office and was appointed Deputy President for International Affairs and Global Initiatives in 2016. In July 2025, she assumed the role of Provost, contributing to the University’s academic and institutional leadership through her active participation in both the President Council and the Provost Council.
As Provost, Dr. Mattar leads the University's academic affairs portfolio, overseeing academic quality, faculty affairs, curriculum development, institutional compliance, and strategic academic innovation. She is currently spearheading several transformative initiatives, including the modernization of faculty governance and promotion frameworks, the advancement of artificial intelligence governance in higher education through the establishment of the Committee for AI Responsibility and Ethics (CARE), and the development of lifelong learning and professional education initiatives through U-SCALE. In her previous leadership role, she designed and implemented the University’s international strategy, cultivated sustainable global partnerships, and expanded international programs, including student mobility and study abroad initiatives. Dr. Mattar established and launched the USEK Diplomacy Academy, a strategic institutional initiative that serves as a platform for diplomatic education and public policy engagement, expanding USEK’s societal impact and strengthening its role as a hub for dialogue and diplomacy. She also oversaw international grants and several European joint and structural projects that significantly strengthened USEK’s global visibility and engagement.
Dr. Mattar has served on high-level institutional committees, including the Executive Committee and the Academic and Research Council, and acted as Liaison Officer to the Board of Trustees. Internationally, she is engaged with major higher education networks and academies.
