Dr. Lahcen Haddad, Morocco

Dr. Lahcen Haddad joined World Learning Inc.’s Board of Trustees in October 2019. He is World Bank human and social development expert, Professor with the Toulouse Business School in Casablanca and Vice President of Society for International Development. Between 2012 and 2016, Dr. Haddad was Minister of Tourism with the Government of Morocco, where he oversaw the shift of Morocco towards becoming a leading destination in the Mediterranean, Africa and the Middle East and a reference country with regards to sustainable tourism. Prior to 2012, he worked for USAID and other donors as international expert in Strategic Management, Higher Education, Democracy and Governance, Monitoring and Evaluation, Entrepreneurship and Policy Change. Dr. Haddad has taught as a university professor for over thirty years at various institutions including Indiana University, Saint Thomas Aquinas College in New York, the School of International Training in Vermont, Mohamed V University in Rabat and Al Akhawayn University in lfrane, Morocco. He also served as Morocco Country Director and as Chief of Party for Management Systems International for various development projects in education, vocational training and enterprise support, as well as the Academic Director for the Morocco Program at the School of International Training. A distinguished writer, Dr. Haddad has just published two books (on development and on accountability, one in English and one in Arabic) in 2019 and is finishing a third one on populism.
