Dr. Mervat Chouman holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Operations Research from University of Montréal, Canada. She was appointed as Vice President for Planning and Development of Effat University in January 2020. Formerly, Dr. Chouman served as Provost of Effat University from 2015 to 2017 and as Dean of Effat College of Business from 2010 to 2015. She is also a Professor in the Operations and Information Management Department of Effat University’s College of Business since 2010. Prior to Effat University, Dr. Chouman has taught and lectured in many Canadian Universities like University of Montréal, Polytechnic School of Montréal, Bishop University, and more. She is a visiting research member at CIRRELT, the Interuniversity Research Center of Enterprise Networks, Logistics and Transportation and member of INFORMS, Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences. Dr. Chouman has published in prestigious top-tier journals and lectured in many international conferences. Her research interests are in network design, combinatorial optimization, polyhedral theory, exact and heuristic approaches for large scale combinatorial optimization problems in the field of transportation, logistics and telecommunication. She is a referee to many prestigious scientific journals like Transportation Research, Journal of Heuristics, Transportation Science, Networks Journal, EJOR and Journal on Computing.
