Dr. Khairulnissa Ajani

Dr. Khairulnissa Ajani is the Ebrahim Virji Endowed Associate Professor and Director of the Network of Quality, Teaching and Learning (QTL_net) at Aga Khan University (AKU). Dr. Ajani is the first nationally prepared nurse with a PhD in Pakistan and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK). She is also the current Director and an
inaugural member of the Haile T. Debas Teachers’ Academy at AKU.

With more than two decades of experience in higher education, Dr. Ajani has made significant contributions to teaching and educational leadership. In recognition of her sustained contributions to excellence in education, she received the AKU Award of Excellence in Teaching and Teaching Leadership in 2022.

As Director of QTL_net, Dr. Ajani provides strategic leadership for faculty development initiatives, promotes best practices in teaching and learning, and advances systems for the recognition and reward of teaching excellence across AKU. More recently, she has led efforts to support the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and curriculum alignment across the University.

A passionate educator and mentor, Dr. Ajani is committed to advancing curriculum reform, digital teaching and learning, student-centred pedagogy, and educational innovation. Through her leadership, she has contributed to strengthening academic standards, building institutional capacity, and advancing excellence in teaching and learning in both national and international contexts.
