Prof. Khaled Assaleh​

Dr. Assaleh has been the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Ajman University (AU) since 2017. In this capacity, he oversees the academic operations of the nine University colleges, the Deanship of Students Services, the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Research, the Center for Continuing Education and Enterprises (CCEE), the Office of International Academic Affairs, the Teaching and Innovation Center (TLC), University Library and the Office of Admissions and Registration.

Before joining AU, Prof. Assaleh was a member of the senior administration at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) responsible for research and graduate studies where he served as interim Vice Provost from 2014 to June 2017 and Director of Graduate Studies from 2011 to 2014. He was also a professor at the department of electrical engineering where he taught courses in the areas of signal processing and Artificial Intelligence. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, bio-signal processing, biometrics, speech recognition and image processing.

Prior to joining AUS, Prof. Assaleh worked as a Research Professor at the CAIP Center of Rutgers University, New Jersey from 1993 to 1994. He then had a career in industry in the USA from 1994 through 2002 as a Senior Staff Engineer with Motorola in Phoenix, Arizona, and as an Engineering Group Leader with Rockwell Semiconductor Systems (Conexant/Skyworks) in Newport Beach, California.

Prof. Assaleh holds 11 US patents and has published over 120 articles in signal/image processing and Artificial Intelligence and their applications; his work received more than 3400 citations. He has served on organization committees of several international conferences including ICIP 2020, ISSPIT 2019, ISSPA, ICCSPA, MECBME and ISMA. He has also served as a guest editor for several special issues of journals. In 2020 he was named among the top 2% researchers in the world according to a study published by researchers from Stanford University. Prof. Assaleh is a senior member of the IEEE.
